James Gordon Russell Jr. was born in Annapolis, Maryland, USA on November 11, 1917. He was of Scots-American decent, the son of James Gordon Russell and Gladys F. Parker. He graduated from Milton High School, Massachusetts, the University of New Hampshire and the 90 day program at The United States Naval Academy, Annapolis. Immediately after his graduation from Annapolis he was assigned to the 'USS Salt Lake City' with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
He married Doris Maxine Alward, from Houlton, Maine on February 13, 1943, in Milton,Massachusetts. They had '2' children, Susan Parker Russell, born at Chelsea, Mass. on May 13, 1944 and Jane Muriel Russell, born at South Weymouth, Mass. on October 27, 1948. (under development)
Jim died in Duxbury, Massachusetts (?) on March 9, 2005. (under development)
Doris Maxine Alward was born in Houlton, Maine on November 30, 1921, the daughter of Charles (Chas) Elton Alward and Addie MacKinnon Dickinson of Houlton , Maine. She graduated from Houlton High School, Maine and Burdett Business School in Boston, Massachusetts, a two year business degree.
Doris, without a doubt, inherited all of her mother's great strengths, especially of character.
The Dickinson (John Howland & Elizabeth Tillie (Tilley)) side of the family arrived in America aboard the 'Mayflower' in 1620. Their daughter Elizabeth married Captain John Dickinson (see below).
Doris died in Duxbury, Massachusetts (?) on March 31, 2000. (under development)
